General information about UCEBA
UCEBA was based in 1995 as one of working nets of the Theriological School - one of sections of the Ukrainian Theriological Society of NAS of Ukraine (UTS). Among initiators of UCEBA creation there were researchers from Institute of zoology of NASU, Ministry of Ecology and Carpathian biosphere reserve: Igor Zagorodhiuk, Volodymyr Domashlinets and Vasyl Pokynchereda. First name for the centre was "UChC - Ukrainian chiropterological Centre", report on the work of which is included in the book "European bat night' 98 in Ukraine" (in Ukrainian). UCEBA activity is directed at the conservation of bats in Ukraine, energization of research of bats' current state in Ukraine, at debugging of the monitoring net's work, at information interchange between Ukrainian chiropterologists. An important UCEBA task is scientific and informational support for implantation of the Agreement on the conservation of populations of European bats (EUROBATS) in Ukraine. Daily work is carried out in the mode of teleconference. Once a year the general meeting takes place ("Bat night") which is carried out in borders of annual meeting of theriologists.
Since 2011 UCEBA is a member of the BatLife Europe — an international NGO built from a partnership of national bat conservation organisations that are committed to promoting the conservation of all bat species and their habitats throughout Europe. The total number of BatLife Europe partners is 28, in 26 countries of Europe.
